Darmstadt, Germany
The Second International Faith and Science Forum dealt with the question “Is God acting in the world in conflict with the laws of nature?” The H+ Hotel in Darmstadt, Germany, again provided a pleasant setting for this 23 June event, organized by Converge International Fellowship. The guest speaker was Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Ralf Bergmann, Bremen. Bergmann is a physicist and has wide experience of presenting on the interdisciplinary topic of Christian faith and natural science.
Bergmann spoke in English for almost an hour and touched on fundamental questions of how we do natural science and how laws of nature operate and what that means for the understanding of divine action. At the conclusion of his talk, there was a question-and-answer session, and Bergmann fielded a wide range of questions from the audience. The forum did not only strengthen the Christian world view as compared to atheism, but also gave Christians a substantial encouragement with respect to the foundations of the Christian belief. The meeting was followed by an informal gathering with light refreshments and continued discussions of many related topics.
With Bergmann’s permission, the talk was video-recorded, and we hope to make it available to those who were unable to attend in person.
